To comply with the legal requirement for recording working hours for salaried employees effective July 1, 2024, you can use the Working Hours feature in Salary.
The Working Hours feature allows you to keep records of hours worked by salaried employees.
This registration is for documentation purposes only and does not affect payroll. The recorded hours can later be exported as a report.
If you want employees to start with a pre-filled, fixed number of hours and only make adjustments when deviations occur, you can use the Working Hours Template feature. See how to use the template feature here.
You can find our FAQ on working hours registration here.
Guide:
1. Go to the Registrations tab, then to the Working Hours sub-tab, and enable Register working hours.
2. Once the feature is enabled, all salaried employees will appear in the overview, along with a summary of the hours registered.
3. By default, only the total number of hours per day is registered.
4. If you prefer to track clock-in and clock-out times, enable the From–To fields under Registrations → Working Hours.
5. Employees can then enter start and end times, as well as breaks.
Tip:
If you're on the Basic or Premium plan, you can use our Employee App for free. This allows employees to register their working hours themselves.
See this guide on how employees register hours in the app.
If you’re not yet using the app, learn more about it here.
6. You also have the option to activate detailed time tracking, where employees register one day at a time.
Working Hours Template
If you have Salary Premium or have purchased the Work Hours Templates feature under Company → Pricing Plan, you can create work schedule templates at both the company and employee levels.
Once a template is created, working hours are automatically registered based on it.
This means employees only need to make changes if there are deviations from their regular workweek.
You can set up a company-wide template that applies to all employees—unless they already have an individual template assigned.
The company template can be overridden for individual employees at any time if they require a different weekly distribution—or if they shouldn’t use a template at all.
Find out how in our FAQ here.
Guide:
1. Go to the Registrations tab and select the Working Hours sub-tab. Enable Register templates. Then click Templates to create the company’s default work schedule.
2. In the Templates section, you can define what will be automatically registered for all salaried employees. The template is blank by default, but once filled in, it will apply to all salaried employees going forward.
Note: The template only affects future weeks and will not change any hours that have already been registered.
Here’s what it looks like if "from-to" fields are enabled.
Here’s what it looks like if "from-to" fields are disabled.
3. When you click Save, the template will be automatically applied to all salaried employees. If some employees need a different template—or none at all—you can find instructions in our FAQ here.
4. You can also enable warnings for violations of working time rules. Do this in the same section by clicking Enable warnings.
5. Once alerts are enabled, an icon will appear next to the employee if rules regarding rest periods, days off, or the 48-hour limit are violated.
Click the icon to see which rule was broken.
6. Then, click Switch to week to go directly to the relevant week and make corrections if the issue was caused by incorrect registration.
